Probably between position and permission. I am working my way into the permision level. My focus right now is building the interrelationshps with my teachers and adminstrators on each campus.
I am in a transition from positional Leader to Permission Leader. At this moment I have some co-workers that start helping each others sharing what htey have been learning form me. Just today a teacher was having trouble with the grading program and a grade level teacher jumped to help her since the problem was solving that we solve together yesterday. the most important factor for me is that the helping teahcers is moving to a more confident position using and working with computers, from receving to giving help.
Production - I feel that the teachers I work with respect me and are willing to try new things because they know I got their back. They know I'll walk them through the steps and teach valuable lessons.
I also encourage them to try different ways of accomplishing the task. My goal is for them to get the same end results...integration of technology in their curriculum.
I use the momentum of what they learned and mastered as a way to encourage them to go to the next level, whatever that might be.
With regard to the level of leader I fall under, I am a level 2. I am always taking care of my teachers and administrators, sometimes to a fault. I want people to know that I am there to help them with anything they need.
I think that I am a Level 2 (Permission) stage. The reason I feel this way is because last year, I spent time builing bridges and now, I have willing and excitied teachers to go up and above inspite of their loaded paperwork. We just had a campus survey and I was rated extermly high among the leadership team. On my other campus, I was just given 2 compliments and 2 cokes during the faculty meeting. Teachers explained how I am so willing to go out of my way to get their issues resolved and it simply motivates them. I love my job!
I feel that I am between Permission and Production levels which also depends on what team and/or type of person I am working with. Open minded person is Production, more closed minded and unwilling is more Permission level.
I believe that I am between a Level 3 (Production)and Level 4 (People Development). I feel like the teachers on my campuses, especially the campus that I've been at for 5 years now, do really like me and go out of their way to try to empower themselves based on what I've taught them. I have worked with a few teachers that were rather skeptical about technology integration, but they are now willing to try almost anything, knowing that I can be there to support them if they need me there. It is a wonderful feeling to have formed some of these great relationships with my coworkers. :)
It depends on the teacher. Some of my teachers view me as a position leader and some as a permission leader. I have a group of teachers that are eager to learn more and seek me out to collaborate on a project. When I send out an idea several teachers respond quickly and are eager to participate while I still have others that I am still working on building a relationship with.
Honestly, this school year I feel like I am on a Level 1. In the past, I was at a higher level of leadership. This school year I am working with a big number of new staff members on two seperate campuses. I am having to start building relationships again and gain trust by staff who may not know me as well as the others already do. I feel like I am having to work my way back up the levels as time progresses and the teachers get to know me more better and trust me more.
I believe that I'm in between a level 2 leader (permission) and a level 3 leader (production). Since this is my second year as an ITS I'm still trying to buld relationships with some teachers. I am fortunate to be on 2 campuses that have many teachers open to using technology and trying new things with technology. One thing I need to work on in order to truly be a level 3 leader is making sure that I have an overall goal and then making sure that the smaller goals that I create weekly leads me towards the larger goal.
This is a difficult questions to answer. I am on different levels of leadership with different people. With teachers with whom I have a strong relationship, I am on the level of People Development and Reproduction. We have worked together for 3 years now, I have trained then, they have applied the information I have shared, and they have created their own lessons based what they learned from their first attempts. With new teachers, the relationship is not there yet. I appear as someone who loves what she does, but the mutual trust has not been totally established yet. With them, I would be on the position level. I feel like my principals see me as on the People Development level. They often comment positively on the structure, organization, communication, effort I provide for our teachers. With other ITS, I suppose I am on the Permission/Relationship level. I work toward assisting my team, supporting them, and helping our team accomplish our goals and purposes.
I am so fortunate to be on one campus daily (since the building opened), which has allowed me to teeter on the brink of being Level 4 leader. Working with the teachers on a daily basis has helped me develop a positive relationship with most of the staff members. I have gotten to know them personally as well as recognizing their strengths and weaknesses related to technology. They have shown tremendous growth "technologically" over the years, which has been great fun for me to witness.
I feel like I am going from the Permission level to Results level as I am empowered by my administrators to lead teachers and teams of teachers to set technology goals for staff at my campuses.
In this position right now I see myself at the level 2- permission level leader. This has definitely been a journey over the past few years, and building relationships and rapport to the point where more of my teachers are actually willing and want to collaborate and work with me- both in attending trainings and bringing their students to the lab for projects- has really grown. Until this year, it has not really been supported by campus administration that technology is an important enough objective (from the top down) for the students and teachers, and as a result, it had only come through building realtionships with my staff that they wanted to work with me, even though they were not encouraged to do so by administration.
I think I am at the People Development level basically because I feel that I am truly a people person and I KNOW that other people are my most valuable asset. I have been able to surround myself with that inner core of teachers that complement my efforts and give them the credit. I try very hard to be the We or You person and not so much the "I" person. I have learned that once you give others the credit and celebrate their successes, they have more confidence in themselves and continue to feel as winners and producers for a common goal.
I feel that I am not at one level but in a progressive stage. I am in Level 2, 3 and 4. Since this is my second year, last year I worked very hard to establish relationships. This year I am results oriented and people development is my priorty. Yet, I have not arrived at the level 5 stage. Therefore, I am a work in progress!
At this present moment I feel that I am on the "permission" level. I am really working hard to build a relationship with each of my teachers this year. I really loved the quote "You can love people without leading them, but you cannot lead people without loving them."

ReplyDeleteI am on level 4 - people development, since I am taking time to get to know all of my teachers and explore their technology interests.

I believe at one campus I'm at a Level 4-People Development at one campus and between a 3 and 4 at the other(almost 4). I do believe in empowerment!
